About InterPlay

Katherine Burke founded InterPlay in 2002 when she was invited to train an ensemble of high school students in interactive theatre techniques. Since then she has created and implemented workshops and training for a wide range of groups - fraternities and sororities, high schools, substance use support groups, convicted sex offenders, and more. She has worked internationally through World Learning in the Republic of Georgia, training theatre artists, NGOs, and others in creating arts-based civic dialogue.

Burke was the founding director of HumanRITE (Human Relations Interactive Theatre Ensemble) at Purdue University, where she has also taught acting, theatre apprecation, voice for the stage, and public speaking. She has performed at regional theatres around the country, has been a featured soloist with Purdue Musical Organizations, and has directed at various theatres. She is the Chicago and Midwest Representative for BackStage.com, the online extension of America's largest performing arts paper. Burke holds a BFA in Theatre from Drake University, an MFA in Theatre from Purdue University, and has studied at the National Theater Institute at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center.
