- An ensemble of
administrative staff from Purdue University participates in 2 days
of training, learning to address cultural inequities among staff on
campus. The training will culminate with a workshop for 150 staff
members, kicking off a series of workshops across campus.

for delinquent youth. Six weeks of training will culminate in a workshop
for family and friends, examining the issues that are prevalent in

- The
Indiana Civil Rights Commission sponsors the creation of an original
theatre project, focusing on issues of race in Muncie, Indiana. A
select group of youth will interview community members and transform
those interviews into an original performance about racial tensions
surrounding the proposed renaming of a street after Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr.

Elementary School
- Third, fourth,
and fifth graders at Miller
Elementary School in Lafayette, Indiana transform six children's
books into theatrical performances, using mask, mime, and theatre
games. The students will be involved in every aspect of production,
from scenic design and construction to performance. This project is

Interactive Theatre Workshop
- Come spend an
afternoon playing theatre games, learning improvisation exercises,
and engaging in dialogue about the diversity of Lafayette! InterPlay:
Interactive Theatre for Dialogue, hosts a free workshop. InterPlay
actors Fernando Cordero, Mary Pilat, and Carol Santos engage workshop
participants in scenes, role playing, and theatre exercises examining
issues surrounding diversity. The fun, creative theatre workshop is
open to the public. "The games and exercises we will experience
will be great for educators, community workers, artists, and anyone
who wants to explore his or her creativity," says Burke.

Donnamarie Flanagan and InterPlay Artistic Director Katherine Burke
announce "The Theatre of Dreams," a workshop at the Tippecanoe
Arts Federation. We experience theatre every night in our dreams.
Remembered or not, our dreams are portals to the self, and the characters
in our dreams play in the drama of ordinary life. Participants in
this morning seminar will relive their dreams through the art of theatre,
making the mystery of the dream more accessible by giving participants
ways of relating to their own dreams.

a program she designed for World
Learning. The project, funded by USAID,

and focused on cultural tolerance and conflict resolution.

Council Girl Scouts in a weeklong exploration of what it means
to be a girl in 2003. The final performance was an original creation,
containing visual art, spoken word, and performance derived from interviews
of the campers.
