Whomper |
All participants stand in a circle; one member is chosen to stand in the middle and be the "whomper" (this game can be played either sitting or standing). The whomper holds an article of clothing (something soft and light, i.e. scarf, sweatshirt, etc). The group decides on a category such as colors, ice cream flavors, cartoon characters, etc. Each participant, including the whomper, picks a specific item to be. For example, if the category of "colors" is chosen, each person picks a different color. One person starts by saying the color of another person in the circle. You can not say the color of the whomper or of the person to their immediate right or left. The person whose color is called then calls another person’s color (they are the “caller"). The person in the middle is trying to “whomp” the caller with the article of clothing before the caller can say another person’s color. If the whomper is successful, he changes places with the "whomped" caller, who now takes her place in the middle of the circle and becomes the whomper. If caller accidentally calls the color of the whomper or of a person beside the him, the caller replaces the whomper. If the participants become rather proficient in naming colors without getting whomped, you can increase the level of difficulty by adding a category (e.g. cars). Then the game continues; callers can choose to call colors or cars. |
