Diversity Awareness Training |
|
One of the reasons diversity issues or problems arise is a simple lack of awareness. Some may not realize they are showing disrespect. Others may not be aware of the subtle biases they make or the way they stereotype groups of people. The concept of diversity expands beyond culture, race or gender. Diversity issues also involve the disabled, sexual orientation, social classes and more. Awareness is built by education and communication. A great approach to taking on the diversity challenges in your workplace, school or community environment is to participate in the unique diversity workshops designed by InterPlay. InterPlay's workshops engage participants interactively to explore real diversity issues. Some of the exercises may introduce particular challenges for the first time to some participants. How do these exercises make a difference? When the participants act out the diversity training exercises, they are able to see each other as they are placed in various situations involving diversity issues. They can see how others react and come up with solutions. They are made aware of critical issues that they may have not realized were present before. Once these diversity problems are recognized, the workshop participants can communicate about the issues more openly. InterPlay's diversity workshops can help to break down stereotypes, build trust and respect, teach the value of diversity and enhance creative thinking.
